I pray for these followers, but I am also praying for all those who will believe in me because of their teaching. Father, I pray that they can be one. As you are in me and I am in you, I pray that they can also be one in us. Then the world will believe that you sent me. (John 17:2-21 NCV)

“This work must continue until we are all joined together in the same faith and in the same knowledge of the Son of God. We must become like a mature person, growing until we become like Christ and have His perfection…to make the whole body grow and be strong with love.” (Ephesians 4:12-13, 16b NCV)

Three Words That Portray Our Walk

I believe there are three words that can illustrate our walk with Christ Jesus so that our lives will be glorifying and pleasing to the Father God. They are:

  • Come – receiving Jesus as your Savior and Lord – becoming a child of God
  • Become -  a follower of Jesus through discipleship
  • Be – in God’s perfect will, as a mature son/daughter – His Ambassador

It’s time for you and I to take our place in the body of Christ. We must learn what it means to be one with Him through our determination, decision, and diligence in order to live with the life, light, and love of our Lord Jesus. The hour is late and He is calling those who will hear and follow His leading.

After studying and meditating on Romans chapter 12 and especially on Romans 12:1-2, the following is what the Lord gave me to make my walk with Him easier and to do it more freely. It may also help you to simplify your understanding of how to walk with the Lord. Notice that the three key words mentioned above are progressive in commitment and intensity. Take a look at Romans 12:1-2 in several translations… (I have added Scripture emphasis.)

A Living Sacrifice

“Christian brothers, I ask you from my heart to give your bodies to God because of His loving-kindness to us. Let your bodies be a living and holy gift given to God. He is pleased with this kind of gift. This is the true worship that you should give Him. Do not act like the sinful people of the world. Let God change your life. First of all, let Him give you a new mind. Then you will know what God wants you to do. And the things you do will be good (come) and pleasing (become) and perfect (be).” (Romans 12:1-2 NLV)

“I call upon you, brethren, through the compassion’s of God, to present your bodies a sacrifice — living, sanctified, acceptable to God — your intelligent service; and be not conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, for your proving what is the will of God — the good, (come) and acceptable, (become) and perfect (be)” (Romans 12:1-2 YLT).

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice – the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you which is good (come) and pleasing (become) and perfect (be).” (Romans 12:1-2 NLT)
