“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”

Jesus said in Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. He gave further insight into this truth in when He said:

I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)

Here Jesus reveals that He is the ONLY way to the Father God. There is no other way! Acts chapter 4 verses 10-12 restates these facts “…that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.(emphasis added)

Then prompted by the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Paul explains how to receive Christ and be saved:

“…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness (all of our sins are forgiven and we are now in right standing with Father God) and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation… For whomever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9-10, 13) (parenthesis added)

The First Step

The passage above from Romans chapter 10 is the ABSOLUTE first step to begin a real relationship with Christ Jesus and receive the benefits of being part of God’s eternal family. If you have never received forgiveness for your sin and asked Jesus to come into your heart, I encourage you to do that right now!

Salvation Prayer

The following simple prayer, or something similar, is all it takes from a heart of repentance and then receiving Jesus as your sacrifice, substitute, and Lord. It is not the words that save you. Any prayer similar to the one below will do; it’s the heart-felt request to turn your life over to Christ and live for Him that’s what truly matters.

“Jesus, I believe you are God’s Son – raised from the dead so I could be forgiven of ALL my sin! I am asking you to come into my heart and my life, please forgive me of all my sins. I now receive you as my LORD and Savior. Help me to live in obedience to you and Your Word. I love you and will live my life for you, Jesus. Thank you for my wonderful gift of eternal life, Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer, I want to personally welcome to the family of God– God really loves you, and He paid the ultimate price for you with His Son, Jesus Christ.

Some may argue that this is too simple. “Isn’t there something MORE I have to do?” they ask. No, that’s the good news—Jesus has already done everything for you! All you must do is receive the benefits of the sacrifice that He paid for you. The payment for your sin has already been made.

Others may say, “I’ve already received Jesus as my Savior; but you don’t know what a ‘mess’ I’ve made of my life since then. Is there any hope for me?” Absolutely! The Word of God John 1:7-9, 2:1-2 tells us what we must do in a situation like that:

“If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that His word has no place in our hearts. (1 John 1:8-9,  NLT)

How to Become a Strong Disciple

You will become what God has planned for your life by getting to know the BIBLE, the Word of God. It is your instruction manual! Study and memorize the Scriptures in the New Testament, especially the things that Jesus said in the four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). Over time, you’ll begin thinking, speaking, and obeying the Word of God under the guidance and teaching of the Holy Spirit.
